Sarah Sabroe, Class of 2026, current 12th graders

Sarah graduated from Redmond High School in Central Oregon. She earned her Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology from Western Oregon University and Master's Degree in Counselor Education from Portland State University. Sarah enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband and their two cats Beatrice and Charley. She also loves sports, music, festivals, and traveling. 

 

Jason Barry, Class of 2027 Counselor, current 11th graders

Jason graduated from Oregon State University with a Bachelors in Behavioral Studies, where he also played football for the Beavers. He then attended George Fox University where he got his master's in school counseling. When not at Century, he enjoys coaching, playing golf, traveling, spending time with his wife and son. 

 

Kim Gainey, Class of 2028 Counselor, current 10th graders

Kim was born and raised in Hillsboro and is a graduate of Glencoe High School. She attended Pacific University where she graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Education with a Minor in Psychology.  She went to University of Idaho where she earned a double Master's: M.ED. in Counseling & Human Services and ED.S in School Psychology. Kim loves double digits and Zumba, and she played basketball and softball in college (where she previously held the record for homeruns at Pacific University. 

 

Bree Fawk, Class of 2029, current 9th graders, Department Coordinator

Bree graduated from Dallas High School. She went to Western Oregon University and then went to Lewis and Clark to get her master's degree in school counseling. She started out as an elementary school counselor and is now proud to be working at Century. Bree enjoys taking her dogs for a walk or to the dog park. When possible, Bree loves to go to comic cons. She is currently enjoying working in her yard.

Ruben Garcia-Puga, Student Support and Wellness Counselor, Parenting Youth Liaison

Ruben was born in Forest Grove Oregon, but has lived in Hillsboro all of his life. He is a Hillsboro High School graduate, Marine Corp Veteran and the head coach of the Girls Tennis Team. Ruben earned his Bachelors and Masters in Social Work from Portland State University. He enjoys spending time with family and being active. In his free time, you will find him at Mt. Hood snowboarding or on the tennis courts.

​Ariel was born and raised in Southern California, graduating from Santa Ynez Valley High School. She earned her B.A. in Sociology at Westmont College where she played soccer for 4 years. She later went on to earn her Master of Social Work degree (MSW) at George Fox University. Ariel enjoys playing sports, reading books, advocating for positive change, painting/drawing for fun, and going on hikes with friends.

Hawi Wako, PhD

​Dr. Hawi Wako is a counseling psychologist who is passionate about supporting youth and families through culturally responsive, trauma-informed care. She grew up in Portland and earned her PhD in Counseling Psychology from Western Michigan University.

She values building trusting relationships, empowering students to understand their strengths, and helping them navigate both academic and personal challenges. Outside of work, Dr. Wako enjoys hiking, going to the gym, and salsa dancing.

Originally from the Seattle area, Kevin has lived in Hillsboro for over 30 years. He is an Air Force Veteran, earned his Bachelor of Science in Communications Management from the University of Portland, and is certified as a Project Management Professional. Kevin’s background includes working in media (Television, Radio and Print), training and consulting, and manufacturing. During his off hours, Kevin enjoys hiking, playing soccer and hanging out with his family.

Scott Kellar, School to Career Specialist
Scott has been a staff member at Century High School since it opened in 1997.  He graduated from Western Oregon University with a Bachelor's in Secondary Education and a Master's in Education. Scott is also the head coach of Century's Boys Basketball Team.  He was born and raised in Hillsboro and graduated from Glencoe High School.  Scott enjoys running, participating in and watching athletic events and spending time with his wife Katrina, son Joseph and Max the dog.

Karla Brokaw, School to Career Assistant, ACT/SAT supervisor
Karla was born and raised in Idaho and attended the University of Idaho where she earned a B.S. in Home Economics (back when that was actually a thing).  Her two sons are alumni of Century High School.  Karla enjoys quilting, the beach, baking, Hillsboro Hops baseball and spending time with family, especially her granddaughters.
