Career/College
High school credit requirements for public universities in Oregon with a C- or better:
- English: 4 credits
- Mathematics: 3 credits (Preparatory Math through Algebra 2)
- Science: 3 credits (Biology, Chemistry, Physics)
- Social Science: 3 credits (1 World Studies, 1 US History .5 Government, .5 Economics)
- Second Language: 2 credits of the same language
Other college prep electives are recommended to round out the high school program.
Minimum high school GPA Requirements in above 15 college preparatory courses:
- University of Oregon: .3.00
- Oregon State University: 3.00
- Portland State University: 3.0 (and 3.0 unweighted cumulative)
- Eastern Oregon University: 2.75
- Oregon Institute of Technology: 3.00
- Southern Oregon University: 3.00
- Western Oregon University: 2.75
Oregon Public Universities no longer require ACT or SAT scores for admission.
Community College Requirements
Oregon community colleges have an open-door admission policy. Students can complete a certificate program, a 2-year associate program, or transfer to a 4-year college. Placement testing at community colleges may be administered before courses can be scheduled. Students are not required to take the SAT or ACT for community college admission. Community Colleges will accept G.E.D.
Private Colleges And Universities
Students may want to consider private colleges and universities. These institutions have their own entrance requirements. Consult your counselor and research the requirements in Naviance.
