Century's Toast Lads win Judges' Choice Award at Oregon Game Project Challenge

Congratulations are in order for Century High School's video game design team, the Toast Lads, for winning the Judges' Choice Award at the Oregon Game Project Challenge on Saturday, May 10. Thanks to their grit, dedication, and teamwork skills, the Toast Lads returned with their third trophy in three years: Best in Show 2023, Best in Show 2024, and Judges' Choice 2025.

Their game Red Tides is a 3D/2D first-person puzzle adventure game that fits this year's Oregon Game Project Challenge theme of Extreme Weather. According to their entry: "Set in the 1980s USSR, the height of the Cold War, you play as a new recruit on a weather control station off the cost of Far East Russia. U.S. oil fracking has led to major cracks in the ocean floor, releasing magma into the ocean. This causes oceanic storms to form and steadily grow worse and worse. A series of stations are developed to counteract this."

The Toast Lads team members include Aiden Jungels, William Annis, Saagar Rai, Adam Ainsworth, Amari Davis-Smiley, Sam Davidson, and Joshua Harrison.
