Karen Fernandez Fernandez is Century High School's Rotary Student of the Month

Congratulations to Karen Fernandez Fernandez, a senior at Century High School, who was welcomed by the Hillsboro Rotary Club as their Student of the Month. Karen received her award certificate accompanied by her siblings, Yeily and Ariel, and her teacher, Reyna Land. Karen inspired the club with her kind words and thanked her community for their caring. Among her variety of activities, Karen has maintained a 4.0 GPA while taking on challenging coursework. From playing varsity soccer and celebrating a historic league championship, to her leadership roles in organizations such as Key Club, National Honor Society, and Health Occupations Students of America, Karen keeps busy. She is also an AVID student (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and has participated in track and field, SOL (Standards of Learning), and SHAC (School Health Advisory Council). Through these experiences, she has developed strong skills in leadership, teamwork, and time management. Looking ahead, Karen plans to attend the University of Oregon to study neuroscience on a pre-med track, with the goal of becoming a doctor. Her remarks reflected both gratitude for her supportive school community and a clear sense of purpose for the future. We wish Karen the best of luck!
